Our Mission

Because God’s grace abounds, we have been transformed and gather together as Foothill Presbyterian Church to glorify God and enjoy God forever. God continues to be at work in us, around us, and through us by prayer, compassion, community, and the Word of God made real to us in Jesus Christ. The Gospel’s hope inspires us to welcome all in simple and radical ways.
Our faith is only meaningful, however, if it is put into action. The task of service calls us to demonstrate God’s grace in tangible ways to our neighborhood and our world. As we shine our light, we invite others to come and see what God is doing.

Our Co-Pastors and Session

Rev Andy Wong and Rev Lindsay Woods Wong

Rev Andy Wong and Rev Lindsay Woods Wong

Lindsay is originally from Poughkeepsie, NY, a suburb of New York City. She is a cradle Presbyterian, and when she screamed through her infant baptism the pastor warned that children like her either become singers or preachers. He was right! Lindsay took an interesting route to get there though. She gained her B.S. in Physics at Penn State University, and then spent a year teaching math and English at a girl’s vocational center in Ghana, West Africa. She then ended up at Princeton Seminary where she focused her M. Div. on immigrant congregations and liberation theology, and met her amazing husband, Andy. Lindsay has been largely formed by the places she has chosen to live and the communities she loves. She has a love for learning new cultures and languages. Prior to serving here at Foothill, she was pastor of a bilingual (Spanish/English) congregation in Fort Worth from 2005-2016. Spanish is actually her fourth language, largely because she loves to talk. She is a terrible but avid runner, and adores her three children, Caleb, Micah, and Lily who make her laugh and exhaust her to no end.

Andrew (Andy) Wong grew up in Mt. Kisco, NY, about one hour north of New York City.  He studied computer science at MIT in Boston where he became a Christian and Presbyterian at which point he felt a calling to ministry.  He went on to study theology at Princeton Theological Seminary in New Jersey where he met his wife, Lindsay.  They spent 11 years in Fort Worth, Texas serving churches and learning the proper way to cook Mexican food.  In Fort Worth, their three children, Caleb, Micah, and Lily joined their family.  The Wongs moved to San Jose in August 2016 and are still trying to figure out what to do with their winter jackets and their air conditioners.  Andy is a part time co-pastor at FCPC and teaches math and computer science part time at Fusion Academy in Los Gatos.  He loves to hear himself talk, which is why he loves preaching and sharing his faith story.

What We Believe

Foothill Presbyterian Church is part of the Presbyterian Church (USA). We are grounded in our faith in God, known to us in Jesus Christ, through the Word of God, and this relationship transforms, inspires, and leads us to serve our community.

Our Guiding Scripture

Matthew 5:13-16 New Living Translation (NLT)
Teaching about Salt and Light

13 “You are the salt of the earth. But what good is salt if it has lost its flavor? Can you make it salty again? It will be thrown out and trampled underfoot as worthless.

14 “You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. 15 No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.
